Storm Damage Repair in Norwalk

When wind lifts shingles or a heavy rain finds a weak spot, we inspect the whole roof, photograph what changed and repair it with matching materials. Once the next real rain has tested it, we come back to check our work and show you what to watch for.

What we look for after a storm

Storms rarely punch one clear hole in a roof. More often they leave several smaller problems: tabs folded back and creased by wind, a ridge cap pulled up, a tile split by a falling branch, or flashing bent just enough for water to get behind it. We check for every one of these, including what you cannot spot from the sidewalk.

In Norwalk, the damage usually comes from winter rainstorms and dry Santa Ana winds, and it often stays out of sight until the next heavy rain. We fix what broke and reseal what was loosened. If the roof cannot be saved, we tell you and show you the photos, so choosing a roof replacement is your call, made with the facts in front of you.

Once the repair is finished, we schedule a return visit to make sure it is holding and leave you brief notes on looking after that section of the roof.

What the repair work includes

A whole-roof storm inspection

We walk every slope that is safe to walk, look in the attic for fresh water stains and photograph each problem with its location marked. You keep those photos whether or not you hire us.

Shingle and tile work

Shingles that were creased or blown off are swapped for new ones, nailed to the proper pattern and sealed by hand so the tabs stay down in the next wind. On tile roofs we replace the broken pieces and check the underlayment beneath, because a cracked tile often hides torn felt.

Flashing, drip edge and ridge caps

Bent step flashing, lifted drip edge and loose ridge caps are reset or replaced, then sealed where the roof meets walls, chimneys and vent pipes.

Temporary protection while you wait

If rain is forecast before materials arrive, we secure a tarp over the damaged section so water stays out of your home in the meantime.

Gutters cleared and refastened

Wind packs gutters with grit and leaves and can pull hangers loose. We clear them and refasten what came away, and we tell you if they need their own gutter repair.

Claim-ready documentation

We work directly with your insurance claim, providing dated photos, measurements and a written scope the adjuster can compare with their own. The adjuster decides what is covered. We make sure the roof's condition is clearly on record.

Signs the last storm did more than make noise

Grit piling up at the downspouts
A sudden mound of dark granules at the bottom of a downspout means shingles lost part of their protective surface in the wind.
Shingle pieces in the yard
Even one tab on the lawn means a gap on the roof. Look for a lifted line or a lighter patch where the shingles used to sit.
A new stain on the ceiling
Brown rings or bubbling paint following a rain usually point to flashing or decking that let water through. The leak inside is rarely directly below the opening outside.
A branch came down on the roof
Even if it rolled off, it can crack tile or bruise the decking underneath. It is worth a look before the next storm puts weight on that spot.
Whistling or flapping in the wind
Loose flashing or a ridge vent pulled partly free often makes noise long before it shows a drip.

How a storm repair visit runs

  1. 1

    Free inspection and photos

We go over the roof and attic, then sit down with you and the photos. You see each damaged area and hear what caused it.

  2. 2

A written estimate you can share

You get a free written estimate, line by line. If you are filing a claim, the same document and photos go to your adjuster, and we can meet them on the roof.

  3. 3

    Repair day

We cover plants, protect the driveway, remove the damaged material and install matching replacements. Before we leave, a magnet sweep picks up stray nails from the lawn and walkways.

  4. 4

A check-back once rain has tested it

When real rain has run across the repair, we return to look it over. We also walk you through simple care: keeping gutters clear, trimming branches back from the roofline and spotting trouble early.

What sets the cost of a storm repair

The price comes from the damage we record on your roof, and it is in writing before any work starts. If you have a claim, the estimate is organized so it lines up easily with the adjuster's scope. You can also pay over time through Service Finance Company, subject to credit approval.

What your roof is made of
Replacing clay or concrete tile costs more than replacing composition shingles, and older tile shapes can be hard to find. A shingle color that is no longer made can also take extra work to match.
How far the damage reaches
Damage limited to one corner of a single slope keeps the job small. When wind has worked along the ridge or across several roof faces, both the material list and the crew's hours grow.
The layers below
Soft or soaked decking and ripped underlayment must be replaced before shingles or tile go back down. The full extent only shows once the damaged layer is removed, and we show you what we find before adding to the job.
Slope, height and reach
Steep slopes and second stories need extra fall protection and slower work up top, which adds labor time.
City permits
Bigger repair areas may need a permit from the city. If yours does, we pull it and list it on the estimate.

Questions about repairing storm damage

Should I file a claim before I call you?
There is no need. Plenty of homeowners want to see what is up there first. Our inspection is free, we go over the photos with you, and you decide if a claim makes sense. If you file one, we work with the claim directly.
Will new shingles or tiles match the rest of the roof?
In most cases they blend in well. Makers drop colors and tile shapes over the years, so we bring samples onto the roof and compare them in daylight before we order. If an exact match is gone, we show you the closest options and you choose.
How soon after a storm should the roof be checked?
A shingle that lifted can start leaking in the next heavy rain, so a check before another storm is the safer plan. If we are waiting on materials, we tarp the damaged section to keep water out.
Will you let me know if the whole roof needs replacing?
Yes, and we will show you the reason. Limited damage gets repaired. If the roof was already close to worn out and the storm pushed it over, we explain that with photos and leave the decision to you.
Why the return visit after the repair?
Rain is the real test of a storm repair. We come back to look at the sealed edges and flashing, answer your questions and mention anything elsewhere on the roof worth keeping an eye on.
